2004 W4C Section Conclave

was held on November 12-14, 2004 at Flowing Wells Junior High School.  Hosted by Papago Lodge, the conclave was a great success. Attended by more than 300 Arrowmen from the furthers reaches of the section and beyond, the conclave featured a guest aooeraance by the renowned Kwahadi Dancers of Amarillo, Texas who performed at the Saturday night Theme Show.  Also present was the 2004 National Chief Jeff Hayward and 2004 Western Region Chief Matt Griffis.  in addition to W4C's relatively new Indian Village complete with real tipis, Indian lore workshops, and Native American dancing and singing, the afternoon activities were augmented this conclave with the two high adventure activities SCUBA USA and the National Guard's climbing tower.  Tucson area Webelos Scouts were invited guests of the conclave's afternoon activities, dinner, and evening program for the first time inNational OA history.  Although many of the awards were won by our giant neighbor to the north Wipala Wiki, the prestigious and coveted 'Spirit Stick' was taken home by none other than Papago Lodge.  Section elections yeilded the following results: Patrick Murphy, Chief; Kieran Thompson, Vice Chief; and Jeremy Scott, Secretary.

The 30th annual W4C Conclave was held on Veteran's Day weekend, November 7-9 in Henderson, Nevada. This event was open to all Arrowmen and is a Camporee/Jamboree style event. Order of the Arrow members from Nebagamon (Boulder Dam Area Council, headquartered in Las Vegas, NV), Wipala Wiki (Grand Canyon Council, headquartered in Phoenix, AZ),and Papago Lodges (from Southern Arizona) were the primary participants of this extravaganza.

There were great training classes, ceremony competitions, sports competitions, fellowship, patch trading, and outstanding shows. Activities were geared for older Scouts and were great experiences. Our lodge was responsible for Native American events and training.
